About Türk Tİcaret Bankası
Competent and youthful dynamism
With its advanced technology and competent human capital, Türk Ticaret Bankası continues to offer its customers high-quality products and services that align with best market practices.

A long-standing institution in the Turkish banking sector, Türk Ticaret Bankası is also one of the industry’s most dynamic and innovative players. The Bank’s foundations were laid on March 9, 1913, in Adapazarı, with the establishment of Adapazarı İslam Ticaret Bankası, which was founded by visionary local entrepreneurs and is regarded as the “first national bank.”
Undergoing changes in line with the spirit of the times on its corporate development journey, the Bank strengthened its joint-stock company structure in the early years of the Republic. After the relocation of its headquarters to Ankara on October 25, 1934, the present name, Türk Ticaret Bankası A.Ş., was registered on March 31, 1937.
The Bank gained growth momentum with the move of its Head Office to Istanbul in 1952 and stood out for its pioneering position in the sector, particularly in the 1980s. In 1985, it achieved a historic success by ranking among the top 10 banks in the Turkish banking sector and in the top four among private banks. Amid the challenging economic conditions of the 1990s, the Bank was transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) in 1997 and had to suspend its operations in 2001.
Rebirth and Strategic Transformation
In 2019, efforts were initiated to reactivate the Bank, and following its assessments, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) granted the Bank an operating license with its decision dated November 4, 2021. After completing the necessary preparations, the Bank recommenced its operations on April 29, 2022.
One of the significant turning points in the Bank’s history occurred on April 28, 2023, with the conclusion of the tender for the sale of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund’s shares in the Bank. As of this date, İhracatı Geliştirme Anonim Şirketi (İGE) has become the new owner of 98.5% of the Bank’s shares.
A Structure Growing with the Strength of Exporters
The Bank’s main shareholder, İhracatı Geliştirme A.Ş., was established through a partnership of 20 public and private banks, along with the Türkiye Exporters Assembly, Exporters’ Associations and Türk Eximbank. This unique strength derived from İGE constitutes one of Türk Ticaret Bankası’s most significant competitive advantages.
The Bank, which has set out with the vision of becoming the “Primary Bank of Exporters” by making a financial contribution to Türkiye’s export-oriented growth, continues its efforts to provide all banking products and services exporters require with innovative financial solutions in the fastest and safest manner under the most favorable conditions.
Competitive Advantages and Differentiating Features
The main features that distinguish Türk Ticaret Bankası from other banks in the sector and provide a competitive advantage are as follows:
- Exporter-Orientation: The Bank’s mission is to provide financing solutions customized for Türkiye’s exporters.
- Phygital Banking Approach: Combining physical services that prioritize personal contact with cutting-edge digital solutions, the phygital (physical + digital) banking approach offers a seamless and holistic banking experience.
- New and Agile Structure: The restructuring process from scratch has provided the Bank with a lean and agile operational structure, free from the ongoing problems of the sector. This structure accelerates decision-making processes and enables innovative products and services to be implemented quickly.
- Strong Shareholding Structure and Capital Support: The Bank has deep-rooted connections within the exporter ecosystem thanks to strategic business partners such as İGE, Türkiye Exporters Assembly, and Exporters’ Associations.
- Competent Human Capital: The Bank has a strong human resource base comprised of individuals experienced in their respective fields, who have pioneered innovations in the sector, and who work in harmony with the corporate culture.
- High-Level Information Security Standards: With its cybersecurity architecture structured on the “Zero Trust” principle and its proactive risk management approach, the Bank ensures the highest level of confidentiality and security for customer data without compromising speed in digital banking processes.
Breakthrough in Digitalization and Service Diversity
In 2025, Türk Ticaret Bankası took critical steps toward its digitalization vision. The Bank utilizes its resources entirely in line with the needs of exporters, and continues to make improvements to ensure that exporters can easily access Banking Products and Services end-to-end via digital channels.
Accordingly, exporters have been enabled to carry out various trade finance transactions themselves via digital platforms, and direct, in-person communication with exporters has been established through new branches opened in strategic locations with high export activity.
Technological products that enable customers to manage their cash flows faster, more securely, and more easily were implemented through payment and collection systems established and developed in 2025. While the Bank’s customers meet their return expectations with deposits and investment products through the convenience and access offered by user-friendly digital platforms, they have also begun to secure both their assets and themselves against various risks with insurance products newly added to the portfolio.
With its advanced technology and competent human capital, Türk Ticaret Bankası will continue to offer its customers high-quality products and services that align with best market practices.
